7.4 Navigating Facebook Once You Have Created an Account

Navigating on Facebook is intuitive. There is a search bar at the top of the page in which a researcher can enter an individual’s name or a phrase of interest.

This video explains the search function on the mobile device version of Facebook and provides an example of how a search is performed.

While the desktop version of Facebook may appear different in terms of its interface, it is similar in terms of searching functionality.

You can also access YouTube and type in “Facebook desktop search” into the search area to observe how searches are performed. However, be warned that it is recommended that you filter for recent videos (i.e. in the last year) as Facebook regularly changes how to navigate on the site.
